Emily Fennell lost her own hand in a car accident. Single mother Fennell is in rehab at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, 7 weeks after her surgical hand transplant. Fennell is the first person on the West Coast of the US, to undergo the hand transplant operation.
